Julen Lopetegui hailed Mariano Diaz for ‘taking his chance’ after the striker marked his second Real Madrid debut with a goal against Roma.
“I’m happy with the team’s triumph against a team like Roma, who we knew were going to make life complicated,” the Coach told Movistar+ after his side’s 3-0 Champions League win.
“The team came out plugged in, creating chances. I wasn’t nervous, just lively. We know that if we don’t take our chances sooner or later, our opponents can take theirs.
“The team had a great game and deserved the three points. Mariano came on later, his chance came and he took it.
“The season is very long and we’ll need everyone. Luka had a very good game. He didn’t score but ran all over the field.
“As for Keylor playing in goal, I said we’d make the right decision.”
