Javier Tebas wants Ecuadorian games in Spain

La Liga president Javier Tebas plans to bring top-flight Ecuadorian football to Spain, according to a report in Diario AS.

The league chief has been in the South American nation with the will of taking its nation’s matches to Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia – three cities with communities of those with Ecuadorian descent.

It is suggested that such a move is designed to give Tebas more weight in his attempts to export Spain’s La Liga matches abroad, with plans in place to move games to the United States.

Football’s governing body FIFA alongside UEFA, COMNEBOL and the respective FA’s would need to sanction the moves, which throws a spanner in the works of any plans.

There are reported to be 370,000 citizens of Ecuadorian descent in Spain.
