Carles Alena has joined up with the Barcelona first-team squad after recovering from a thigh injury which sidelined him for three months.
The 20-year-old midfielder is expected to participate for Barca’s B team this season but may be included in first-team squads when fully fit.
Alena has been handed the number 26 shirt in recognition of the club’s plans for him and penned a new three-year deal at the club with a €75m release clause a year ago.
“It is a great day for me and I have really enjoyed it,” Alena wrote on his Twitter account on Monday after returning to training.
“After the setback I now feel much better, getting up to speed and little by little I will feel better.”
