Thibaut Courtois has revealed his new Real Madrid teammates joke about his 2014 Champions League final defeat while at Atletico Madrid.
The Belgian international joined the European champions in a €35m deal last month, having already played in the Spanish capital for three seasons with Atlet.
“They sometimes tease me over the Champions League final which I lost when at Atletico,” Courtois told Belgian outlet Het Belang van Limburg, in quotes carried by Marca.
“The most striking thing is how intense the players are with their mentality, their desire to keep winning more trophies.
“My starting place? I have had a pain in my knee since arriving so it is normal that things take time and I want to fight for my place, the competition is good.
“I’m very happy to be here and see my children every day, it is special for me.”
