Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent claims it is ‘ridiculous and shameful’ that Luka Modric won UEFA’s Men’s Player of the Year instead of the ex-Real Madrid forward.
Ronaldo’s 15 goals helped Madrid win a third straight Champions League last season, but the Juventus new boy only claimed the Forward of the Season award during Friday’s group-stage draw.
Ronaldo was not present to accept his accolade, and Jorge Mendes’ remarks seemed to give credence to the common consensus that it was because of Modric taking home the best-player gong.
“Football is played on the field and that’s where Cristiano won,” Mendes told Record.
“He scored 15 goals, carried Real Madrid on his back and conquered the Champions League again.
“It’s ridiculous, shameful. The winner is not in doubt, as Ronaldo is the best in his position.”
