Madrid miss out on Lewandowski

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has accepted he will not be moving to Real Madrid this summer.

The Poland international has been repeatedly linked with a switch to the Santiago Bernabeu, but new Bayern boss Niko Kovac has stressed the Bavarians have no interest in selling a player who has scored 106 goals in four seasons.

“It’s true I had a meeting with Robert last week and we had a good conversation,” the former Croatia national team and Eintracht Frankfurt Coach told Sport Bild.

“He knows what and how I think about him, and the whole club knows of his qualities. He is definitely among the top three strikers in the world.

“We will certainly not give him up. That’s what I told him. Robert accepted that and it was something I really enjoyed.”
