Official: Barca to sign Vidal

Barcelona have confirmed that Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal will sign a three-year contract with the club.

Reports suggest Barca have agreed a deal worth €19m plus bonuses for Vidal, who turned 31 in May and spent the last three seasons with Bayern, winning the Bundesliga in each of them.

“FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of player Arturo Vidal,” read a statement on the Catalans’ official website.

“The agreement is for the next three seasons and is pending the medical examination that the player will undertake over the course of the next few days.

“FC Barcelona will shortly inform everyone about the arrival of the player and the agenda of the presentation ceremony.”

The Chilean has 100 caps for his country and also lifted four Serie A titles with Juventus, prior to joining Bayern in 2015.

While not a Blaugrana player in the traditional sense, Coach Ernesto Valverde has already expressed optimism that his ‘warrior’-like qualities can help his team win the Champions League.

He will become Barca’s fourth summer signing after Clement Lenglet, Arthur and Malcom.
