Roma President James Pallotta has made another joke over the signing of Lionel Messi from Barcelona.
Last week Pallotta joked he would forgive Barca for snapping up winger Malcom from under the Italian club’s noses if they would send Messi in return, having said that the Catalans had acted “unethically”.
Pallotta has now come out with another joking comment, claiming that the Serie A club are ‘already in Barcelona’ trying to sign the Argentine.
Roma have seen Juventus steal a march on their rivals in Italy by bringing in superstar Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid this summer, although Pallotta is adamant the Portuguese will not find it easy and joked he has lined up Messi to take on the Turin giants.
“Ronaldo is a fantastic player but in Italy it will be more difficult for him,” said Pallotta, as quoted by Il Messaggero.
“Will Roma be buying a top player? We are already talking to Barcelona about Messi.”
