Real Madrid consider Man Utd deal

Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui is monitoring Anthony Martial’s situation at Manchester United after his fallout with Jose Mourinho.

Reports in Spain suggest former Spain national team boss Lopetegui is anxious to move Marco Asensio into a more attacking role, following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus, and OK Diario report that the chance to sign Martial is something that the new Coach is weighing up.

Former Monaco striker Martial’s future at Old Trafford remains in doubt, particularly since Reds’ boss Mourinho has recently indicated he is open to the Frenchman securing a move away from the Premier League, as United are in no mood to sell to a direct rival.

“Anthony Martial? It is better if our Press officer answers if she wants to answer,” said Mourinho, after seeing his side beat Real Madrid 2-1 in the International Champions Cup in Miami. “We are here to talk about the game. I don’t know if Martial will link up with us when we return to Manchester.”

Martial struggled for game time under the Portuguese last term and, although he had permission to travel to his native country from the United States for the birth of his second son, he was not supposed to miss the Red Devils’ last two games.

As a result, the Daily Mirror reports that the club will fine the player two weeks’ wages for his alleged indiscretion.
