Lemar ‘influenced’ by Griezmann on Atleti

New Atletico Madrid forward Thomas Lemar has admitted France teammates Lucas Hernandez and Antoine Griezmann ‘influenced’ his decision to join the club.

The 22-year-old arrives at the Wanda Metropolitano on a €60m deal from Monaco and cut short his holiday following France’s World Cup triumph to linkup with Los Rojiblancos.

“Antoine and Lucas influenced me with my move, but they were not decisive,” Lemar told reporters, as cited by Diario AS.

“They told me a lot about the club, what it would involve and that they would allow me to progress a lot under the coaching staff, at a club where I can win many titles.

“I’m very keen to play, to meet all the players and staff, I want to adapt as quickly as possible and make a positive impact.

“We will try everything we can in order to make progress in the Champions League and we want to try to win everything.

“My playing style is one that will cover a lot of ground, to work hard and my mentality is about giving everything for the team and the fans.”
