Machin “satisfied” with Sevilla display

New Sevilla boss Pablo Machin declared himself “satisfied” with his team’s performance in the 4-0 first leg Europa League win over Ujpest.

Goals from Jesus Navas, Wissam Ben Yedder, Pablo Sarabia and Franco Vazquez made it a comfortable night at the Sanchez Pizjuan against the Hungarians, and virtually assured Los Rojiblancos of a place in the next round.

“To start off like this in an official match with Sevilla makes me feel satisfied,” Machin told a Press conference.

“I think the team fulfilled every requirement, we can qualify and we could have scored more goals, but I had asked the players to give everything and that’s what they did.

“Basically, we did what we set out to do, which was to try and kill off the tie. I won’t lie, a 4-0 win makes things easier.

“Also, the team played as I wanted it to. It’s clear that if we want to do great things then we have to play with quality and as a team. I saw few negative things.

“There are players that need to adapt to positions that are not their own. I’m not unhappy with anything, but we are demanding and there are things we must analyse so the players know what they are doing.”

The former Numancia and Girona boss also had words of praise for the Sevilla supporters.

“I appreciate them and must praise the support we have. For me it is the best in Spain and the fans showed that by going to a game in numbers in the middle of summer.

“Today in football it is difficult to beat anyone, but I think the fans enjoyed it,” he added.
