Canales in Seville ahead of Betis move

Real Sociedad winger Sergio Canales is set to arrive in Seville today ahead of signing a four-year contract with Real Betis.

A report in Estadio Deportivo states Canales is scheduled to take a flight from San Sebastian to the Andalusian capital this afternoon ahead of taking a medical.

The former Real Madrid man has regained his form this season, scoring five goals and assisting 11 in 45 appearances for La Real in 2017-18.

Canales was considered one of Spain’s brightest prospects when he broke through at Racing Santander during the 09-10 campaign.

He went on sign for Real Madrid but failed to build on his potential, before embarking on an injury-ravaged spell at Valencia.

The 27-year-old moved to La Real in 2014 and has managed to play more than 150 times in San Sebastian, despite an ACL injury disrupting his second season.

Canales is set to become Betis’ second signing of the summer after Eibar midfielder Takashu Inui while Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez is also close to joining.
