Cancelo ‘to join Juve’ – Moggi

Valencia defender Joao Cancelo will join Juventus this summer, according to the Italian club’s former director Luciano Moggi.

Last week, Sky Sport Italia reported the Bianconeri held a ‘growing interest’ in the Portuguese international, who reportedly rejected the opportunity to join English club Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“For Cancelo, the situation is this: he wants Juve and Juve want him, so the deal will go through,” Moggi told 7 Gold, in quotes carried by our sister site Football Italia.

The 24-year-old, who made 26 appearances on a season-long loan deal at Inter last season, is set to leave the Mestalla this summer.

The Milanese giants subsequently missed the May deadline to activate their €35m right to buy the defender, due to their desire to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations.

Valencia would prefer to keep Cancelo but their own financial situation means they must sell before they can replenish their squad, despite qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
