Villarreal have completed a deal to bring Espanyol striker Gerard Moreno back to the club, it has been confirmed.
The 26-year-old left the Yellow Submarine in 2015 to join the Catalan club for a €1.5m fee although 50% of his rights remained in Villarreal’s hands.
The signing of the Spaniard follows on from the deal for Cameroonian Karl Toko Ekambi from Angers, which was processed for €18m last week.
These deals are thought to signal the end of Carlos Bacca’s time at the club, having spent one season on loan from Milan.
Moreno was vital at the RCDE Stadium last season, netting 16 of the club’s 36 La Liga goals – just over 36% of the goal output.
