Madrid ‘to trigger Oblak release clause’

Liverpool’s ambitions of a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak are said to be ‘fading’ while Real Madrid have reportedly lodged a bid.

Diario AS cites a report in Portuguese media outlet A Bola that the European champions have submitted a €100m bid for the Slovenian shot-stopper, which would trigger his release clause.

‘The bombshell of the summer’ is how the Lisbon-based paper describes the move for the former Benfica goalkeeper, whose future has been under the spotlight in recent times.

AS also follows up on reports in The Mirror that Liverpool’s hopes of a move for Oblak are dissipating, with Atleti ruling out a sale below the €100m clause.

Reports have also suggested Los Rojiblancos are keen to extend the 25-year-old’s deal at the Wanda Metropolitano, after he established himself as one of the world’s leading goalkeepers.
