Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu claims he is backing Lionel Messi over his native Spain for the World Cup.
The World Cup is the only major honour that has eluded Messi, but Bartomeu expressed his ‘hope’ that the Barca No 10 could go one better than Argentina’s runners-up finish four years ago and reign in Russia.
“I hope Lionel Messi can win the World Cup,” he told Antena 3.
“I hope Leo Messi, the best player in history, can win it and fulfil his dream.”
