Spain have announced that Real Madrid right-back Dani Carvajal will stay with the squad for the World Cup – for now.
It was reported earlier on Monday that Carvajal’s hamstring injury from the Champions League Final was not as serious as first feared, and a statement on the RFEF’s official website confirms the defender will join up with the Spain squad this evening.
The country’s Press has given the defender a downtime of 2-3 weeks, but he will be allowed to step up his recovery with La Roja ahead of their World Cup opener against Portugal on June 15.
