Carvajal confident over ‘tiny’ injury

Dani Carvajal says he is confident of overcoming his ‘tiny’ injury in time for Spain’s World Cup campaign.

Carvajal joined up with Spain’s squad for their first pre-World Cup gathering on Monday evening, the RFEF having confirmed his hamstring problem from the Champions League Final was not as bad as first feared.

“The tests showed my injury was tiny and and I’m here to recover as soon as possible,” the Real Madrid right-back told reporters.

“The Champions League was something wonderful, but now I’m focused on being here. I’m going to try to shorten my recovery time so I can play.

“Lopetegui? I haven’t been able to speak to him yet, but now I’ll see everyone, I’ll give them all a hug and we’ll come to a final verdict.

“Bad memories? It’s less serious than I thought. I had memories from before, the injury that ruled me out of the Euros. Now I want to recover and be strong.”
