Sidibe an alternative for Atleti?

Djibril Sidibe is being touted as a possible replacement for Sime Vrsaljko at Atletico Madrid for next season.

Vrsaljko’s future with Los Colchoneros is up in the air and the club are anxious to find an alternative, should the Croatia international full-back decide on a move away from the Wanda Metropolitano.

According to France Football, Monaco man Sidibe is in pole position as he can play on either the right or left, or even in midfield, and his versatility is something that has attracted Atleti boss Diego Simeone, although he could face competition from Manchester United.

Sidibe is one of the 23 players selected by Didier Deschamps in the France squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia, where he will share a dressing room with Atleti players Antoine Griezmann and Lucas Hernandez.

The 25-year-old has a contract with Monaco until 2022 and arrived in the Principality two years ago from Lille for €4m, having started his career with hometown club Troyes.
