Lothar Matthaus has fired a broadside at Spain international Thiago Alcantara and told Bayern Munich they should sell him.
The Bayern legend hit out after the Bavarians lost the German Cup final 3-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt, during which Thiago showed his annoyance after being substituted.
“I actually think he is a good player but he’s been a shadow of his former self lately and hasn’t made a difference in the big matches,” Matthaus told Sport Bild.
“He has disappointed me in recent weeks and I’m not sure where his head is right now. With these performances he’s not a player for Bayern Munich.
“If a suitable offer appears on the table then I think the club should think about it.”
Recent reports suggest the midfielder is keen on a return to Barcelona, whom he left to join the Bundesliga giants in 2013, and his wife and child still live in the Catalan capital.
