Andres Iniesta has described Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi as the best player he has ever seen.
Iniesta was interviewed by RAC1 to commemorate his 22 years with the Blaugrana, which comes to an end this weekend when he leaves the club.
However, he did not want to get involved in who is the world’s greatest footballer – Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, with both players having won five Ballon d’Ors.
“Messi is definitely the best I’ve seen on a football pitch and there is nobody else like him,” declared the 34-year-old.
“The Ballon d’Or is a result of people who judge and then vote; it’s a very nice prize that whoever wins it likes to have, but it doesn’t have much to do with who is the best player.
“Prizes are not football, they are part of football,” he explained.
