Malcom: I dreamed of Barca

Malcom has finally been presented as a Barcelona player following his move from Bordeaux this week.

Malcom was unveiled in Portland on the club’s pre-season tour of the United States, where they will play their first game of the International Champions Cup against Tottenham Hotspur in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Brazilian donned his Barca shirt for the first time at sponsor Nike’s headquarters, before declaring that he had always dreamed of playing for the Spanish champions.

“I’m very happy with all my heart and this is a dream I’ve had since I was a child,” Malcom told gathered media.

“It’s hard to get to a club like Barca and I hope to bring a lot of joy to the fans. With all my heart, I will try to do my best.”

Malcom was asked about his controversial transfer, after Barca came in at the last minute when Roma appeared to have a deal for the player tied up.

“I was always relaxed,” he explained, “because my representatives took care of everything, like contracts.

“I had the opportunity to play for Barca and it’s something I wanted to do as a child, so that’s why I chose this club.

“Also, I wanted to play with the best players in the world. Messi is the best of them, a legend, and I hope I can learn a lot from him,” he added.
