Pablo Machin admits he and Girona are some way apart over a new contract and that ‘another team can make me an offer I can’t refuse.’
Machin still has a year left on his Girona contract, but his work in guiding the Catalans to La Liga and comfortably keeping them up has seen the Coach heavily linked with the vacancy at Sevilla.
“I’ve always been optimistic with regards to everything and I’m also grateful,” he said after Los Blanquivermell fell to their sixth defeat in nine games, going down 1-0 to Valencia on Saturday.
“You [journalists] already know that I’ve had offers to go elsewhere in the past, but I’ve always thought that here in Girona, they love me and that I have room for growth, and I still think the same.
“In football, you never know what can happen. The club have made me an offer and my representatives have answered with a counter-offer.
“They can accept it at any time, although there’s also the possibility that another team can make me an offer I can’t refuse. I think we have to be optimistic.”
