Atletico Madrid will have a day less than Olympique Marseille to rest for the Europa League Final after failing to bring Saturday’s trip to Getafe forward.
AS reports Atleti made the request for the game to be played a day earlier, given Marseille had theirs accepted.
However, the newspaper notes La Liga knocked back the proposal due to Getafe being in contention for a top-seven finish.
Therefore, it would be necessary to reschedule all the games involving teams still in with a shout of Europa League qualification for Friday, while Sevilla face Real Madrid on Wednesday and travel to arch-rivals Real Betis just 72 hours later.
The Europa League Final will be played in Lyon next Thursday.
