Arjen Robben has been ruled out of Bayern Munich’s squad for the Champions League second leg semi-final against Real Madrid through injury.
The Dutchman has sustained a groin injury and joins Manuel Neuer, Jerome Boateng and Kingsley Coman on the side lines for the second leg at the Bernabeu.
However, there is better news for Bayern with Austrian defender David Alaba returning to the first-team squad following an injury while Javi Martinez is fit despite being taken off with a head injury in the first leg.
Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes insisted on Sunday that it would be ‘too big a risk’ to bring Robben back into the fold for the match, as reported by Diario AS.
Bayern Munich squad: Ulreich, Starke, Früchtl, Wagner, Sule, Hummels, Thiago, Ribery, Javi Martinez, Lewandowski, James Rodriguez, Rafinha, Bernat, Mai, Shabani, Rudy, Tolisso, Müller, Alaba, Dorsch, Kimmich.
