Zidane ready for ‘game of season’

Zinedine Zidane says Real Madrid are ‘prepared’ for their ‘game of the season’ against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-finals.

Madrid’s second string beat Leganes 2-1 on Saturday, and Zidane wasted no time switching his attentions to the Santiago Bernabeu showdown on Tuesday.

“Lucas at right-back? Maybe,” the Coach said after the game.

“Nacho isn’t back yet and it’s difficult to count on him for Tuesday. Casemiro centre-back? He was only there because Sergio [Ramos] and [Raphael] Varane were rested.

“Bayern? I don’t know if what happened to us against Juve and Bayern last year helps us. We need a huge performance and one like never before to go through.

“We’re prepared and we have huge determination. We’re playing the game of the season.

“They won’t be feeling sorry for themselves, so I’m asking the fans to come here like they’ve done before because we’ll need them to reach the Final. They know what we’re playing for.

“Losing out on La Liga? I’m angry with myself for certain reasons and not the players. I’m happy with their attitude, they’ve been exemplary.

“The first half was phenomenal. We can’t be happy with what we did in the League because we dropped lots of points at the start.

“Achraf? Nothing’s happened with me, I’ve just had to make decisions. He’s very young and it’s his first year. We have to go slowly with him. He played here and did well.

“Ceballos? I’m happy with his performance. He’s played little because I’ve had to make choices. Bale? He has to keep working hard, like he did today.

“Benzema? He can smile more. I could’ve as a player myself. I’m not worried about him at all.”
