Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas believes he remained ‘mentally strong’ during Wednesday’s victory over Bayern Munich after a high-profile error.
The Costa Rican allowed Joshua Kimmich’s straightforward effort to fly past him to give Bayern the lead but the shot-stopper went on to make a series of saves to clinch the win for Madrid.
“You must remain mentally strong regardless of events within a game, so I am happy I could maintain my concentration levels,” Navas is cited as saying by Cadena Cope.
“Bayern are a fantastic team with lots of great players who provide a massive goal threat and to win these games, you have to accept that you will suffer.
“My teammates were fantastic, we trusted in ourselves and our capabilities which allowed us to win the match.
“Now we must remain united and hope our fans get behind the team at our home and get us over the line.”
