James excited for ‘special’ UCL tie

Bayern Munich playmaker James Rodriguez is anticipating a ‘special’ Champions League semi-final against his former club Real Madrid.

The Colombian star is still officially a Madrid player after he joined Bayern on a two-year loan deal last summer, but it is understood he has agreed a permanent move to the German champions.

“These two fixtures will be extra special for me due to my background,” James told an interview with Diario AS.

“I played for three years at Real Madrid, I have many happy memories from my time there and it was a successful time with titles.

“I have many friends at the club who I am looking forward to seeing again, but this is all of course secondary to playing two hugely important matches.

“We are all focused on reaching the final, it would be an important objective for us and we all believe, nothing else matters.

“Revenge? No not at all, there is no need for that and these are just two very difficult games with a big prize available at the end.

“These clubs are both massive and when they play they are always special occasions, but we can only focus on ourselves.”
