Bayern ‘make offer’ for Ajax’s De Ligt

Bayern Munich have lodged an offer for Ajax defender and reported Barcelona-target Matthijs de Ligt, according to reports in the Spanish press.

The 18-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Camp Nou this summer, with El Mundo Deportivo reporting last month that the Dutchman was in the Catalan capital with a view to a move.

However, the news outlet now states Bayern have lodged an offer with the Amsterdam-based club for the defender while Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal have also spoken to his agent.

The teenager has already won five international caps for The Netherlands and starred in his club side’s run to last season’s Europa League final.

De Ligt has made over 50 first-team appearances for the Amsterdam-based club and Barca may need defensive reinforcements due to Thomas Vermaelen’s predicted summer exit.

The German champions now appear to be in the lead for the highly-rated defender.
