Sevilla’s Castro remains upbeat

Sevilla president Jose Castro is optimistic his side can still progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Andalusian club face an uphill battle to reach the last four after losing the first leg of their quarter-final with Bayern Munich 2-1 at the Estadio Sanchez Pizjuan last week.

“We are going to Munich with great optimism and to try to make a big achievement,” Castro is cited as saying by ABC de Sevilla.

“In the Champions League we are playing at a very high level but we always carry great optimism, as do our 3,000 fans who are making the trip.

“Bayern were favourites for the tie and now they are even more so but at Old Trafford and coming from three goals down against Liverpool, we have shown we can surprise the doubters.

“United are a great team and was an extremely difficult tie and this is a similar situation but we believe could have done more from the first leg, but we still have the opportunity.”
