Alessio Tacchinardi believes his former Juventus teammate Zinedine Zidane is a stronger Coach than he was a player.
The Frenchman leads Real Madrid against his former club in Turin tonight – his first trip back to the Northern Italian city since his playing days.
“My belief is Zidane is a better Coach than he was a player,” Tacchinardi told reporters.
“As a player, mother nature helped him, and he did not need any coaching – he just went out on the pitch and produced is magic, it was intuition and he was like a child.
“Zidane was and is football on the pitch and as a tactician he has become a strong man, because a player he used to be quite withdrawn and shy with others, but now he has adapted that and improved.
“He has improved his character and there is no doubt that tactically he is very good and he always manages to make the right move.
“He was a pure breed as player but as a manager he has inherited a catastrophic situation and has won every competition, he is a phenomenon.
“But I admit I never thought he would ever make it as a manager and if any of his old teammates said anything else, they would be lying!”
