No World Cup talk – Ramos

Sergio Ramos has played down talk of Spain being among the favourites for the 2018 World Cup after their 6-1 victory over Argentina.

The Real Madrid captain put in a typically fiery and motivated display in Tuesday’s victory but he insisted there are no thoughts about winning the tournament in Russia.

“Everybody in this squad will remain calm, nobody will be getting a picture with the World Cup,” Ramos is cited as saying by Cadena Cope.

“Leadership for Isco? I am not his father, I am his companion and his friend. I offer him advice based on my own experience for him to reach the right decisions.

“Argentina are a great team and they were strong, especially in the first half but we knew how to play the game and we did very well.

“We had in our minds our last match against them, when we lost 4-1 and we want to make more good memories to erase bad results.”
