Roma sporting director Monchi has explained why Lionel Messi is ‘reaching perfection’ and Real Madrid would be signing a top goalkeeper in Alisson.
Monchi joined Roma last summer after four decades of service to Sevilla, and the Giallorossi will face Messi’s Barcelona in the Champions League quarter-finals.
“Barca and Manchester City? They were the two most dangerous teams in the draw, in terms of quantity, quality, curriculum and fitness,” he told Mundo Deportivo.
“Messi? The other day, he said he’d improved by understanding football had a more collective component and that he should make his teammates feel more important.
“In that, he summarised what he’s improved on, which makes him almost infallible.
“If he understands that football has a collective side to take into account, he’s now reaching perfection.
“Alisson? He’s grown a lot. He’s not conceded a goal at home in Europe and he has not conceded in 17 domestic matches.
“He transmits confidence to the rest of his teammates.”
