Real Sociedad dismiss Eusebio Sacristan

Struggling Real Sociedad have sacked Coach Eusebio Sacristan with the club languishing in 15th place in La Liga with nine game remaining.

The Basque club crashed to a 2-1 home defeat to Getafe on Sunday and have won just six of their last 26 matches in the division.

B team Coach Imanol Alguacil has been given the reins at Anoeta until the end of the current campaign, while sporting director Loren has also been dismissed.

“Real Sociedad have decided to rescind the contract of first-team coach Eusebio Sacristan,” read a club statement.

“The club went to thank Eusebio Sacristan for his contribution, professionalism and dedication that he showed during his time in charge of the first team, and at the same time wish him all the best for both his professional and personal future.”

The former Barcelona midfielder and Spain international took charge of La Real in November 2015 and guided them to a sixth-placed finish in his one full season at the helm.
