Barcelona’s Lionel Messi has explained how he is ‘trying to play more for the team’ and ‘not be so selfish’.
Messi’s role has changed over the years, from playing as a right winger to a false nine, but Luis Enrique’s reign saw the No 10 become more involved in Barca’s team play.
“I used to get the ball and do my thing, but now I’m trying to play more for the team,” he told La Cornisa de America TV.
“I try to let the ball run more through me and not be so much of a finisher. In short, I’m trying to be not so selfish.
“I try to move the team more from a certain position or place. I still run like I always have, but in a different way.”
