Monchi believes Real Madrid are among the favourites for the Champions League and Roma want to draw his former club Sevilla.
The Rome-based club are in their first quarter finals for a decade while Sevilla have reached the last eight for the first time in 60 years.
“Who are the favourites for the competition? It is hard to say, there are many good teams left,” Monchi told Roma’s official radio station.
“Real Madrid are accustomed to winning everything, although I think this Manchester City are the strongest team going into the quarter finals but then you have Juventus, Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
“Now it’s difficult for everyone in the Champions League, anyone can meet anyone else and in Rome everyone wants Sevilla, and in Seville everyone wants Roma.
“Our mentality is strong and that is what I like.”
