Neto targets Brazil World Cup slot

Valencia goalkeeper Neto is not ruling out a place in Brazil’s squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer and ‘will be prepared’.

The 28-year-old has excelled for Los Che since a summer move from Juventus but has never won a cap for the national side, who have Roma’s Alisson, Cassio of Corinthians and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson in their side.

“As I've been saying, I'm focused on continuing to do a great job in Valencia,” Neto told Globo Esporte.

“Brazil has a lot of great goalkeepers, but I believe I'm in contention for a place. One of my goals is to return to the national team and I will fight for a spot (to the World Cup) until the last chance.

“Taffarel and Tite have been following La Liga and, if I get the chance, I will be prepared.”
