Atletico Madrid defender Jose Maria Gimenez has described each of his side’s remaining match as a ‘cup final’ amid a potential title run-in.
The Uruguayan defender dismissed claims his side should prioritise any matches ahead of Sunday’s clash at Barcelona – whom they trail by five points in the title race.
“Each match is a final for us and all are important,” Gimenez told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“There was speculation we would rest players for certain games but we always play with our same team and we never look beyond our next match.
“Against Leganes, we did not think at all about Barcelona because if we did then you would lose concentration and then your chances of winning would decrease.
“There are not too many matches remaining, so each game takes on an increasing value of importance and the game against Barca will be fantastic to watch and play in.”
