Barca’s Semedo facing five weeks out

Barcelona defender Nelson Semedo is facing a five-week injury layoff after injuring his hamstring in Saturday’s victory against Girona.

The Portugal international hobbled off with ten minutes remaining of the 6-1 victory and is expected to be out of action until early April.

The right-back will miss the Champions League second leg against Chelsea – having been suspended for the clash at Stamford Bridge – alongside at least four La Liga matches.

“The club's medical services department can confirm that first-team player Semedo has suffered an injury to his left hamstring,” read a Barca statement.

“Further tests carried out have indicated that he will be out for approximately five weeks.”

Semedo is also set to miss league games with Las Palmas, Atletico Madrid, Malaga and Athletic Bilbao.
