Pablo Machin believes Leganes are on a similar level and position as a club as his Girona side, ahead of the two meeting on Friday.
The Catalan club are two points and two positions ahead of Madrid-based Lega going into Friday night’s clash, and Machin believes they can act as a model for his own club.
“Leganes and Girona are two clubs who are similar in our trajectory and values,” Machin told his pre-match press conference.
“Our intention is to grow and develop as they have done, to stabilise in La Liga and to have a beautiful run in the Copa del Rey, like they have.
“Their Copa run will never be forgotten and will be memorable, beating Real Madrid, but their squad is competitive and they have lots of options.
“This is clearly going to be a very difficult match for us, as they compete strongly and work so hard for everything so we must be wary.
“They have a very strong defence and do not concede many goals, they know they often only need one goal in order to win the game.”
