Barcelona B’s Oriol Busquets (pictured right) looks set to be ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after sustaining a knee injury in training.
The Blaugrana confirmed the midfielder would undergo surgery but gave no indication as to the length of his absence, but the Catalan press suggested he will not return before the summer.
The 19-year-old, who made 21 appearances in Spain’s second tier this season, is diagnosed as having torn his knee meniscus – a similar injury to that of Rafinha Alcantara’s last year.
Busquets – a Spain Under-19 international – also appeared for the Catalan giants first-team in the Copa del Rey this season.
His absence could give an opportunity to English youth international Marcus McGuane, who joined from Arsenal last month.
