Roma sporting director Monchi has made his strongest hint yet the club would attempt to sign Barcelona defender Aleix Vidal.
The 28-year-old has been linked with a return to Sevilla this month but negotiations have stalled and the Italian giants are now rumoured to be making a move.
“I need to work a lot to win the fans over and what I've done already doesn't count for anything as I'm working on making this Roma side even better,” Monchi told Mediaset, as cited by ESPN.
“[Vidal] is a player who I had at Sevilla and he's a great player, but he is owned by Barcelona.
“We are working on transfer but nobody has left us yet. There is a week left before the end of the transfer window and were working on finding something which could improve the squad.”
Vidal initially joined the Blaugrana from the Andalucian club in the summer of 2015 for a €28m which included add-ons.
However, Vidal has failed to make an impact, starting only 14 La Liga games and has played second fiddle to Dani Alves, Sergi Roberto and Nelson Semedo.
