Real Betis vice president Lorenzo Serra Ferrer has definitively ruled out a return for Dani Ceballos due to La Liga rules.

The central midfielder joined Real Madrid from Los Verdiblancos this summer but has struggled for game-time and made only two league starts this season.

There has been speculation the 21-year-old would return to Estadio Benito Villamarin this month but this has now been ruled out.

“Our Coach wants it to happen and Ceballos wants it happen, but it cannot happen,” Serra Ferrer told El Transistor.

“(Quique) Setien likes the talent and ability Dani possesses and the two have spoken on a personal level but everyone is aware it is a non-starter.

“The rules of the league mean it is impossible and there has not been any movement from Betis at any point.”
