Inter want Cancelo compensation

Inter are demanding compensation from Valencia for Joao Cancelo should he return to the Mestalla this month, say reports.

The Portuguese full-back moved to the Milanese giants on a season-long loan deal in summer but now both he and Los Che are hopeful of an early return.

However, Plaza Deportiva reports the Serie A club will seek financial compensation to end the loan arrangement early, meaning the Spanish club may look for a short-term alternative elsewhere.

The 23-year-old only joined Inter late in the summer transfer window but a lack of first-team football means his World Cup place next summer is now at risk.

Argentine striker Luciano Vietto has arrived from Atletico Madrid on loan while Francis Coquelin has joined permanently from Arsenal.

Cancelo’s agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly now become involved in discussions between the two clubs in what appears to be an attempt to hasten movement on a deal.

Valencia's alternatives in the position are Martin Montoya and Nacho Vidal.
