Atletico Madrid and Inter are considering a swap deal between playmakers Joao Mario and Nicolas Gaitan, claim reports.
Diario AS cites a report in Sky Sport Italia stating that both players – who are out-of-favour at their current clubs – are eager to move and early negotiations have begun.
The Milanese giants have offered the Portuguese midfielder to Los Rojiblancos, who in turn have suggested Gaitan, 29, be part of any deal.
Mario and Gaitan are said to not be ruling out a late push for their respective nation’s World Cup squad in summer but are aware they must play regular football if they are to be in the frame.
Southampton are one of a number of English clubs who are said to be interested in Atleti’s Argentine, who signed from Benfica in the summer of 2016.
