Real Betis hopes of a loan deal for Dani Ceballos this month have been dashed due to player registration laws in Spain, say reports.
The 21-year-old joined Real Madrid from Los Verdiblancos in July but despite the domestic campaign not beginning until the following month, he has already been registered with the Seville-based club this season on a technicality.
Marca report this is the one element which has prevented the Andalucian club making an approach for the dynamic midfielder, who has started only two La Liga games for Madrid this season.
A player’s registration cannot switch twice in the same football season period (July-June) in Spain, meaning Ceballos is likely to remain at the Bernabeu for the remainder of the season.
The report acknowledges that both clubs and the player would have been open to the deal.
