Thiago wants Barca return – report

Bayern Munich midfielder and Spain international Thiago Alcantara could be set for a return to Barcelona this year, according to reports in Spain.

Thiago’s father Mazinho is said to have told the Catalan giants his son wants to return to the club in negotiations for the exit of the midfielder’s brother Rafinha – who is said to be close to a loan move to Celta Vigo.

Having joined Bayern in 2013, the midfielder thrived under Pep Guardiola but a report in El Mundo Deportivo states he is not happy under new Coach Jupp Heynckes, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti last year.

Thiago is currently in the middle of a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a muscular injury sustained in November’s Champions League win at Anderlecht.

The 26-year-old joined the Bavarian club from Barca in 2013 and has gone on to win 23 caps for Spain and is expected to form part of next summer’s World Cup squad.
