Besiktas: No Arda plans

Besiktas president Fikret Orman has played down reports the club will attempt to land out-of-favour Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan.

The 30-year-old has not featured for the Blaugrana at all this season after a planned summer move to Galatasaray broke down, with the player reportedly unwilling to part with his current wage packet.

“We are fans of Arda and would love to see him play for Besiktas, but these reports are not true,” Orman told Turkish reporters, as quoted by Marca.

“We have not made a move for him and the truth is we already have players in that position.”

Arda previously spent five years in Galatasaray’s first team, winning a league, cup and Super Cup during his stint, before joining Atletico Madrid in 2011.

Since moving to the Camp Nou in 2015 in a €34m deal, the midfielder has struggled to nail down a first-team place, but has scored 19 goals in 53 appearances across all competitions.
