Benzema place under threat – report

Real Madrid Coach Zinedine Zidane is prepared to drop Karim Benzema from his starting line-up following substandard performances, say reports in Spain.

The French forward has struggled for form this season with just two goals in 12 La Liga outings, with concerns that his general game-play and form have not been enough to merit a first-team place.

A report in ABC outlines how Benzema will be selected in the forthcoming games against Celta Vigo (Copa del Rey) and Villarreal (La Liga) due to his previous achievements, yet if his form does not improve he will be dropped.

Zidane is reportedly keen to give Marco Asensio and Gareth Bale prolonged runs in the first-team and realises that the 30-year-old is the most likely man to fall out of a starting eleven.

Borja Mayoral is another option for the French Coach, who is under pressure for his failure to field Asensio, Bale or Isco in the recent El Clasico loss to Barcelona.
