Roma eye Ceballos deal – report

Roma are lining up a sensational move for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos in the January transfer window, according to reports.

The 21-year-old joined Los Blancos in the summer from Real Betis in a deal said to be worth in the region of €20m, but he has only started two matches from a possible 19 across La Liga and the Champions League.

A report in Il Posticipo states Roma sporting director Monchi – who worked at Betis’s city rivals Sevilla before joining the Rome-based club – is a big fan of the midfielder and would be keen to sanction a deal.

The Spain Under-21 international signed a five-year contract at the Bernabeu a €500m release clause but could wish to seek a move away to secure regular first-team football.

Reports suggest Ceballos wants to push for a spot in Spain’s World Cup squad next summer with the report suggesting the Giallorossi could negotiate a deal akin to the one that took Alvaro Morata to Juventus in 2014 and back to Real Madrid two years later.
